Tuckpointing

Tuckpointing is a style of jointing that was traditionally used on English brickwork from the seventeenth century through to the early twentieth century. By applying a fine white line of lime putty to a colored mortar similar in color to the brick, tuckpointing was a unique process of creating the illusion of a perfectly constructed masonry wall at a time when bricks were irregular in shape and size. While tuckpointing is no longer in prominent use, great knowledge and understanding of past techniques, tools and methods is essential to re-create the finish.
