Since 2002 Grant has been constructing and restoring homes across the country. Mentored by Master Tuckpointer Nat De Palma of Kobrix Masonry, who passed down three generations of tuckpointing knowledge, Grant honours the original Victorian craftsmanship by using the same traditional techniques today as tuck pointers of times past. Victorian Brick Restorations is proud of this history!

Victorian Brick Restorations Services includes: Tuckpointing which is a style of jointing that was traditionally used on English brickwork from the seventeenth century through to the early twentieth century. By applying a fine white line of lime putty to a coloured mortar similar in colour to the brick, tuckpointing was a unique process of creating the illusion of a perfectly constructed masonry wall at a time when bricks were irregular in shape and size. While tuckpointing is no longer in prominent use, great knowledge and understanding of past techniques, tools and methods is essential to re-create this famous and unique finish.

Repointing is when we repoint damaged lime mortars to their original condition and Victorian Brick Restorations are proud to restore history. We start by removing damaged lime mortar, then we inject the new lime mortar and finish the joint by matching the original finish. Finally, an eco-friendly brick clean is performed to highlight the bricks and new mortar and revitalise the building’s history and longevity.

Victorian Brick Restorations Service includes addressing and managing Rising damp issues. Rising damp is the greatest threat to period masonry buildings to both internal and external walls. Groundwater displaced at the subfloor, leaking roofing, blocked drains and gardens against buildings are the common risk factors in rising damp issues. Victorian Brick Restorations offer a range of solutions as well as desalinating salt affected areas to remove excessive salts from masonry walls and restoring buildings to their former glory.
